My wife and I have had a cycad since 2008. Up until the past few years, it was doing well. When we moved from Chicago to Philadelphia, it went from a window with a lot of indirect light to a north-facing window with less light. Last year, the leaves it sprouted in summer were elongated (3+ feet, as compared to the usual 1-1.5 feet) and curved in bizarre ways. After scouring a number of information sources, I assumed this was due to low light. Earlier this year, I trimmed off the distorted leaves. As new leaves sprouted this summer, I placed the plant directly below a grow lamp. Eventually, the leaves grew too high, and I had to move the plant. When the leaves finished unfurling, they were no different than last year (i.e., elongated, distorted). Please see linked pictures. Because of this, I question whether inadequate light was ever the culprit.

Can anyone explain whet else might be causing the problem (e.g., a specific mineral deficiency)? I fertilize the cycad with Grow More palm food (15-5-15) with each watering during the summer. Thanks for your help.
